Looking for a fun reliable summer car to complement my unreliable Grand Cherokee. I like this for the practicality of the hatch and the fact that it hasn't been molested.
Anyone know much about these? Also what is the timing belt interval on these? At 145k miles it could be due for one depending on when it was replaced.

I'm afraid I don't know much about them but that shifter blew my damn mind.

I always loved the gear shift in the center stack. I'd say NP

They're pretty fun for a no-frills hot hatch. Same basic car as the base-model Acura RSX, but with more headroom, better visibility, and a shifter poking out from the dash like a minivan.
There is no timing belt. Honda K-series motors have a timing chain.

I believe it's due around 100-110k, definitely by 145k. This one looks really clean and nice and stock. If it all checks out, I'd say NP

that price, those miles, stock condition ( a little seat wear), great price. Usually see them for about $1000 more.
no timing belt interval, its a chain.
had one, love civics, ask me anything

"cable shifters are neat new thing (we used solid bars before) what can we do to emphasis the fact that they no longer need to be inline with teh trans?"

I bought a next-gen Si (2008 sedan) new and drove it for 102,000 completely trouble-free miles. I mean, it was perfect. I loved that car and would recommend it to anyone on the basis of durability alone. Mine saw the rev limiter literally every day and never made so much as a peep. It even had the original serpentine belt on it when I traded it in! If my experience is any indication of how Honda builds their cars, I say buy it and enjoy!

When I saw that shifter I was like 'WHAT THE FUCK'. I'd feel very weird shifting that, on the bright side, it'd be a conversational piece.

No belt, just chain. The K-series motor is this is the one from the base RSX.
The enthusiasts didn't fall in love with it much like the Si before or the one after, so you can pick it up for a steal.

Great! Thanks for the info. He (or she) already dropped the price from $4k to $3.8k so maybe there is more room to budge. I may go look at it this weekend.

I wish the hatchback would've caught on it seems like it could be a very practical car. Like a Japanese Golf :)
